About

God has placed us on an incredible journey to change this generation through passionate faith, radical love and powerful service.
We have already left a big mark on our area with our Random Acts of Kindness to Cynthia Pinckney Ministries, Morris Bridge Bike Trails and the STRIVE day at E.G. Simmons Park. StOP, our Student Orchestra and Praise team.
Each Sunday at 9:29 a.m. we gather our community of students and leaders for a worship service in our chapel. God is honored and students are energized to continue living out their faith.
During the week we have small groups of students meeting together at various locations and times to support, challenge and grow together in faith. Having groups meeting throughout the area opens the door for all of our students, regardless of their schedule, to be involved in these life-changing experiences.
We have opened up the borders of the ministry by sponsoring four kids in the Dominican Republic through COPA and Connie DiLeo, a United Methodist Missionary working in the Dominican. Each week, we take an offering at our Sunday morning service. These student gifts support four Dominican middle and high school students’ education. Our sponsorship covers their tuition, uniforms and the one good meal they are guaranteed each day while they are at school.
On top of that, we offer lots of opportunities to have fun and invite our friends for wild event nights like Whipped Cream night and the school year kick-off. The Great Pumpkin Chase is another great opportunity to invite our friends to church for a night that hopefully will open the door for them to become a part of the Mission Impossible family.
Our dream is that as a student graduates from this ministry, they do not graduate from their faith. One of our goals it to prepare our students to step out and lead in college, career and in life.
This requires us to give as much responsibility for this ministry as we can to the students. Our student leaders are serving in many functions within the ministry and the church already and we are hoping to emphasize that even more as we continue on.
If you are new to First United Methodist or to the Student Ministry, I want to encourage you to get involved. I would love to meet you and help you find your place in our community of faith. We have a diverse and exciting culture in our church that encourages participation, leadership and role-modeling to younger peers.
All Hiz,
Michael J. McCrystal
Director of Student Ministries
